The following is the transcript of last night’s chat with Glen Drover at the Gigantour chat room (taken from the Gigantour Forums).
During the chat, Glen mentioned that Michael Sarna is currently out with the Gigantour filming (possibly meaning a Gigantour 2006 DVD!).
Menza: Hey Glen, so what was your first guitar and first song you remember learning?
GD: paranoid
Andelainscion: Hey there glen, how’s the tour going so far, any highlights?
GD: going great thank you!
walksofar: hey glen huge fan of megadeth here, first question, whats it like playing with your brother? you guys ever like fight?
GD: its great. we never fight
Jenna: Hey Glen, good to see you. Hows the tour treatin’ ya?
GD: hey jen!!!! all is goin well. say hi to ted for me
tiimmay: Glen, knowing your Canadian heritage and familiarity with Toronto, I was wondering if you ever get inspiration from the streets of Toronto? Have you ever encountered any of the characters or street vagrants who have had an impact on your life and made a significant change or influence upon yourself?
GD: yesw, for sure. kim mitchell
Moomin: Hi Glen! How old were you when you started playing the guitar?
GD: 9
Andelainscion: Have you had a chance to check out the other bands yet, any favourites?
GD: they all sound great. opeth is one of my favs
pinguine01: Hi Glen, will u be out in the UK soon and what can we expect of the new album, is it classic megadeth or have u chosen a different path?
GD: not sure when. the new aLBUM IS COMING ALONG VERY WELL
Jackster: any plans for a guitar solo during your show?? and btw. thnx for stopping by :]
GD: no solos on this tour. we have so many songs to play
VRH-502: Hi Glen, What is your favorite Megadeth song to play live?
GD: take no prisoners
Moomin: How do you like Axxion guitars?
GD: i think its very cool. i play it for holy wars
NORM: Whats it like giving Take No Prisoners a well deserved airing?
GD: lots of fun!!!!!
Menza: If you weren’t playing guitar in Megadeth or any other band what you be doing?
GD: i would be still doing the eidolon stuff in my studio
The_Droogie: whats Your fave rythm/solo with megadeth?
GD: tornado
ryanthemetalman: Hey Glen, had the opportunity of seeing you from the front in Albuquerque - great show! Being in a band myself, I get quite exhilirated at the sight of a bar packed with excited listeners - what is it like looking at a sea of people enjoying what you’re playing?
GD: its a ton of fun. very exciting
Droogie: Hey Glen, how’re you finding your new guitars? what’s your fave? I think the white axxion looks killer!
GD: my fav are my graphic models
Megajames: Hi Glen!! I’m listening to the Gigantour CD as we speak and I’ve gotta say, your solos are wicked. Your playing is absolute perfection for Megadeth!

british_banger: Hello Glen. How do the crowds of this years Gigantour compare to the last one?
GD: very good

GD: too many to mention
megadeth4lyfe: What music or bands do you listen to that are not metal, if any?
GD: lots of jazz music and 70’s rock
NORM: Whats your favourite city to play Glen?
GD: so many. montreal and toronto are special of course
Duckrasta: Have there been any good pranks on this tour so far?
GD: not yet, but im sure its coming……
MegaDautt: I heard that your brother likes Death Metal, is it true, and if so. do you listen to death metal too?
GD: some. i like opeth, obituary. stuff like that
Moomin: Whose solos were the hardest to learn - Marty’s, Jeff’s or Chris’?
GD: all of them, but thats part of the fun for me
tiimmay: Kim Mitchell, eh? I loved your jam on the one track you played live on his show awhile ago, I think you played Rock Land, and it was just wonderful. Excellent choice, by all stretches. Would you ever consider doing session work for Kim Mitchell if he were to ask you?
GD: thank you. it was a lot of fun for sure and i would love to do something with him .
british_banger: Glen I would just like to say (and I think I speak for a lot of people) that I have never at any stage considered you, James, shawn or JLo to be filling anyone’s shoes. You each bring your own presence and style to the group at it works brilliantly. To hell with anyone who says otherwise

Droogie: What’s your favourite song to do backing vocals for? (I’m guessing TNP!)
GD: i would have to say she wolf

Moomin: Who’s your favourite guitar player?
GD: soo many. al dimeola is one of them
Jackster: any plans for playing another song off the new album??
GD: not at this point
Moomin: What is it like working with Dave?
GD: great!!!

GD: i cant imagine playing without him in megadeth
Menza: Whats on your iPod this tour?
GD: everything from accept to zappa
LaurenMc: What’s it like being signed onto Roadrunner now?
GD: very very cool!!!!
jackdeth: are there any bands that you would like to play with when the united abominations tour starts
GD: great question. queensryche would be cool
Menza: Do you add your own licks in the middle of solo’s where possible?
GD: i try to keep the solos as close to the album as possible
Droogie: Is Michael Sarna out filming with you at the moment?
GD: yep, he is
MegaDautt: Is there any chance of Megadeth coming to Iceland again, and one classic question here, how do you like Iceland?
GD: i hope so. it realy felt like home to me, being a canadian
kimb: Hi glen hows it going? I was just wondering how your setup has changed now you have the line6 gear? Hopefully see you in UK soon!
GD: its going great with line 6. Dave and i are very happy
MDM1: Glen, have you ever played “Stranglehold”? I’m trying to learn it and it is giving me fits.

GD: we will be doing fan phots there. we do that every night along with our signing sessions

GD: dont know who that is

GD: im sure we will
The_Droogie: i like your lead sound its sounds sharp in unique what kind of pick-ups you use?
GD: thank you. i use seymour duncans. distorion in bridge and 59 in neck
Moomin: How many guitars do yo own?
GD: around 16 or so

GD: gibson
CubanToad: Who’s your favorite band on Gigantour? And which band do you hang out with the most?
GD: i like all bands and everyone has been so cool out here!

GD: what my fav food is
CubanToad: Last year i heard that you and your brother really helped get Nevermore and Symphony X on the bill. Did you help choose any of the bands this year, and which ones?
GD: yes. arch enemy into eternity
kimb: How do you rate Steve Morse as a guitarist?
GD: awsome
jackdeth: you play so sharp and clean over the last megadeth guitarests whats your secret to your sucess
GD: i just try my best. feel is very important
Moomin: Have you got stage-freight?
GD: not too much anymore
HLC: Glen, what is your most memorable Megadeth show, aside from ‘that one night’ of course!

GD: to many to mention, to be honest

GD: sand
Galiral: Hi Glen! Nice to meet you, i wanted to ask how much you and the other members of the band have contributed to the lyrics of UA, besides of Dave, see you soon in Italy… I hope!
GD: not so much on this album. its all dave, which is cool.
british_banger: We’ve heard about your favourites Glen, but what song do you find the most challenging to play and why?
GD: skin of my teeth. its very frantic in the solo section. too many bends. hehe
Moomin: Do you prefer performin live or working in the studio?
GD: i love both. they are very differnt from each other
HolyRattlehead: What was it like playing with King and Andy? King seems like a really cool guy.
GD: it was a big thrill. lots of fun and i learned a lot from that experience
tiimmay: I’m looking forward to seeing you play live in TO again. You’ve consistantly impressed me live and in studio (House Of God comes to mind). Any chance of another surprise, similar to that have what happened on Peace Sells last year?
GD: you never know………
Moomin: Are you going to perform the extended version of She-Wolf?
GD: not at this point
jackdeth: will there be pictures of you guys on this new album or none like the system has failed album
GD: yeah im sure there will be
jackdeth: are there any songs form megadeth you like that you haven’t had the chance to play yet
GD: good stuff!!
welcometotomorrow: Do you have a warm-up routine? What’s involved before going on stage? Do you play Megadeth or various scales?
GD: just play the songs in the set prior to showtime
welcometotomorrow: For a beginning guitarist, what do think is most important? What should be practiced most?
GD: start off with easy stuff like black sabbath. learn how to play bar chord patterns before trying to solo. too many people try to run before they learn how to walk
