James LoMenzo Chat Transcript Available
The following is the transcript of James LoMenzo’s session in the Gigantour chat room last night, taken from the Gigantour forums. JLo: I haven’t seen one band on this tour that made me think “oh, I’ll skip them next time” everyone’s got their own cool thing that they bring to the table. Finally saw Lamb of God last night, fantastic energy and musicianship.
Maggie: who is you favourite keyboard player?
JLo: In Rock? John Lord
Prince_of_Darkness: Hello JLO, how would you say the material off of the upcoming album stacks up to previous Megadeth releases?
JLo: Yes and yes, It’s developing an across the board flavor of the classic and newer Mega albums. I think the fans are really gonna eat it up!
Grimpuppy: JLo - What was the hardest song from the Megadeth Past Songs for you to learn?
JLo: Well we just put Take No Prisoners in the set, that one’s a slight finger twister. As I’ve said before, the songs are not hgard for me to play, it’s just remembering all the “suttle” neuances. Dave’s quite a riff craftsman…
Megajames: Did you record Washington’s Next with your fingers or a pick?
JLo: That’s one of perhaps 3 songs on United Abominations where I played with my fingers, when I first heard it as a demo it seemed to call for that and so, since that’s a more natural way for me to play the bass, I was thrilled to employ it on a Megadeth song.
ingenkommentar: J-Lo, any bass solos on the new record?
JLo: This one’s just pure slamming metal no space to stop for a minor bass indulgence
Rockchickbabe: Hi James, thanks for taking the time to chat to us. I have some of your work you did with White Lion (Pride). Are you still in touch with any of the guys from White Lion?
JLo: My pleasure RockChickBabe Funny you should say that, I received an email from Mike Tramp just last week. He want’s to come on down to the show in Melbourne, it’ll be nice to see him again.
cptnfarrell: Hi J.Lo! Great to see you in Megadeth, you rock!! Anyways, has there been any “initiation” rites or interesting stories about coming to
JLo: Thanks! My initiation was preparing for our first show in three weeks, I may have lost a few years on that one… Lot of notes…
Moomin: Is Dave a demanding boss?
JLo: Dave is a bit of a perfectionist when it come to the music. I always appreciate and respect this kind of drive. No, I don’t find him demanding at all.
Megajames: Will you be doing anything for Dave’s birthday tonight?
JLo: Well the first thing is playin’ the show, which under the right circumstances is a party unto itself but no, nothing been planned as of yet but I have a feeling as the day progresses we’ll come up with something.
NORM: Greetings from England JLo great to see you settling right into Megadeth any news on touring the UK yet?
JLo: Still driving this beast called Gigantour right now and finishing up United Abominations… soon as there’s some info on that, it’s be posted.
Moomin: What kind of music is your favourite?
JLo: literally all kinds, but now I’m becoming a fan off Metal all over again. I’m really digging seeing these new metal bands out here.
Andelainscion: What has been the highlight so far on the tour?
JLo: Not keeling over after Holy Wars
Rockchickbabe: How did it feel when you were asked to join Megadeth?
JLo: As I mentioned before, really honored.
walksofar: do you ever wake up saying to yourself, i can’t believe I’m part of Megadeth
JLo: Yeah, I do that, but my tone changes in the way I say it depnding on the previous evening festivities. Too tired and it’s like, W-o-ww… …. …. ….. I can’t believe… … I’m in … (hand me that advil)…
Moomin: Did you find it difficult to learn Megadeth tunes?
JLo: Answered that one before… easy to play, tricky to remeber all the small neuaunce
COBHC: What bands are you currently listening to?
JLo: Checking out some cd’s from some of the band s out here, Opeth for instance.
JLo: Thanks to all who stopped by. Looking forward to meeting some of you out at the shows, best to all… James
